First Friday of every month 5–9 pm
Spend a delightfully different evening on the First Friday of every month. Enjoy light fare plus beer and wine from the Acro Café, shop at the Museum Store, enjoy the Nature Art Gallery, groove to live music and stroll through fabulous exhibits. First Friday is a free, family-friendly, social event held the first Friday of each month at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh. Visitors can enjoy exhibits, shopping, food and spirits from 5 until 9pm. The Natural Horror Picture Show (a vintage, sci-fi flick) begins at 7 p.m. Arrive early for live music and a film short from the A/V Geek archives. For information, call 919-733-7350, ext. 379.
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, in downtown Raleigh, documents and interprets the natural history of the state of North Carolina through exhibits, research, collections, publications, and educational programming. When leaders of the planet Emerald send their best superhero to rescue the Earth, evil aliens from the Sapphire Galaxy turn and scatter like so much antimatter. “Attack From Space” was produced by the prolific Shintoho Motion Picture Company of Japan, the same folks that brought you “Evil Brain from Outer Space,” a previous First Friday feature. Both of these movies conjoin two episodes from the Super Giant series of the late 1950s. “Attack” blends “The Artificial Satellite and the Destruction of Humanity” with “The Spaceship and the Clash of the Artificial Satellite.” Press Release
